Business Application Architect
Would you like to use your skills to accelerate the global transition to a low-carbon circular economy?
About Cambi
Cambi is a world-leading provider of sustainable technology solutions that enable cities to turn wastewater sludge into valuable resources. We are a medium-size, Norway-based multinational company listed in Oslo on Euronext Growth, with offices in several countries. We have diligent employees from different backgrounds and more than 25 nationalities, and a growing sales network covering all continents.
Our core expertise lies in designing, testing, manufacturing, installing, and operating industrial process installations, used mainly for treating sewage sludge before or after anaerobic digestion in wastewater treatment plants. The technology, known as thermal hydrolysis, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and produces renewable energy, organic fertilizers, and various soil products while destroying pathogens and other harmful substances. Our systems have the capacity to cater to over 120 million individuals across more than 28 countries. We are proud of having cities like Oslo, London, Washington, Singapore, and Sydney among our clients.
About the Role
As a Business Applications Architect, you will be the technical owner of Cambi's Microsoft 365 landscape, ERP, CRM, and the integrations connecting them. You will translate business needs into platform functionality, aligned with the strategic direction for each system, and own the overall technical architecture across the full life-cycle of the platforms and their integrations – from design and implementation to ongoing evolution. This includes safeguarding the integrity, quality, and availability of the company's data as it flows across these platforms. The responsibility spans from high-level architectural direction to hands-on technical implementation, ensuring that strategic intent and operational detail remain consistently connected.
Key Responsibilities
Technically own the core business platforms and execute life-cycle enhancements to create business value.
Define and maintain architectural principles, standards, and documentation for Cambi’s core business applications and integrations.
Understand and translate business needs and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Ensure key processes have optimal system support.
Ensure technical changes are assessed and implemented with appropriate consideration for scalability, maintainability, security, data integrity, and life-cycle impact.
Embed data-driven thinking into architecture and technical decisions.
Operate within Cambi’s IT strategy, portfolio, priorities, and budget.
We are looking for
A data-first and data-driven mindset with a holistic way of thinking.
A consistent focus on ensuring that technology investments translate into tangible and measurable business value.
A genuine interest in platform solutions and the broader ecosystem they are part of.
A real appreciation for collaboration and cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
A curious, technology-enthusiast approach to the work, with the drive and energy to help shape the role going forward.
Confident leading and participating in well-defined processes and appropriately scoped projects.
Willing to challenge the status quo, yet grounded and humble in how you do it.
Not afraid to get your hands dirty with day-to-day operational work, coding, and configuration.
Key qualifications and requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Relevant certifications and/or operational expertise within platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, ERP (platform-agnostic), CRM (Salesforce), integration development, and master data.
Significant, demonstrable experience in a comparable role is equally valid and will be given weight against formal education requirements.
Experience owning technical architecture and systems within a business context.
Experience in integration development, ideally with a background in software development (full-stack or backend).
Experience with system configuration and customization.
Experience with data platform architecture and the data engineering layer.
Hands-on skills in programming, scripting (PowerShell), and low-code (Power Automate, Power Apps) development within the ecosystem.
Experience with development methodology, including backlog and priority management.
Methodical project management experience, ideally from platform implementations or major upgrades.
