Service Engineer (Nordics) - Field Services & Key Accounts
Would you like to use your skills to accelerate the global transition to a low-carbon circular economy?
About Cambi
Cambi is a world-leading provider of sustainable technology solutions that enable cities to turn wastewater sludge into valuable resources. We are a medium-size, Norway-based multinational company listed in Oslo on Euronext Growth, with offices in several countries. We have diligent employees from different backgrounds and more than 25 nationalities, and a growing sales network covering all continents.
Our core expertise lies in designing, testing, manufacturing, installing, and operating industrial process installations, used mainly for treating sewage sludge before or after anaerobic digestion in wastewater treatment plants. The technology, known as thermal hydrolysis, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and produces renewable energy, organic fertilizers, and various soil products while destroying pathogens and other harmful substances. Our systems have the capacity to cater to over 120 million individuals across more than 28 countries. We are proud of having cities like Oslo, London, Washington, Singapore, and Sydney among our clients.
About the Role
As Service Engineer, you are the main technical point of contact for the Cambi thermal hydrolysis (THP) plants in your portfolio in the Nordic region. You take ownership of the client relationship, the maintenance and reliability of the plants, and the growth of Cambi's service business at these sites. You make sure the plants are well maintained, that issues are found early, and that repairs are carried out quickly and safely, whether you do the job yourself on site or organise contractors to do it. The role is a mix of hands-on site work, office-based planning and follow-up, and client meetings, always in strict compliance with site safety requirements.
You are the go-to contact for plant management, operators, and site personnel. You attend operational and commercial meetings with your clients, and you use your close knowledge of each plant to identify and develop opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, upgrades, and other services. You ensure that customer requests, operational issues, and agreed actions are followed up within agreed response times, acting as the link between the client and Cambi's service, spare parts, process, sales, and project teams.
The right candidate has solid experience in maintenance planning and practical maintenance, including preventive and corrective maintenance, criticality analysis, and spare parts management, combined with a commercial mindset and an interest in building long-term client relationships. You are eager to build a deep understanding of Cambi's technology, including process, mechanical, and electrical aspects of the systems. The position offers significant on-the-job training and the opportunity to develop strong technical and commercial expertise.
In addition to the core maintenance and service responsibilities, the role includes business development and sales of services, such as preparing technical and commercial proposals, supporting contract and price discussions, and following up service agreements. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary and international teams and contribute to the continuous development of Cambi's service offerings, methods, and tools. The role reports to the O&M Support Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Act as primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of Cambi plants in the Nordic region, ensuring high levels of support, delivery, and client satisfaction.
Take technical ownership of maintenance and reliability for your plants.
Establish, maintain, and follow up a maintenance plan for each site, covering preventive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance.
Carry out and keep updated criticality analyses of plant equipment, and use them to prioritise maintenance and define critical spare parts.
Travel to site to troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment, or engage and follow up contractors to carry out the work.
Manage spare parts for your plants: define needs and place orders with Cambi's spare parts team, follow up shipping and delivery, and make sure the repair or replacement is executed.
Proactively follow plant condition and performance to identify issues before they lead to breakdowns or unplanned downtime.
Answer questions from operators and site personnel and respond to service requests within agreed response times.
Attend commercial and follow-up meetings with clients, and identify sales and up-sale opportunities such as service agreements, spare parts packages, upgrades, and optimisation services.
Prepare technical and commercial proposals for services and spare parts, and support contract and price negotiations together with Cambi's sales team.
Follow up existing service agreements, ensuring delivery according to contract and identifying opportunities for renewal and extension.
Build and maintain an account plan for each client, covering plant status, maintenance needs, and business opportunities.
Ensure compliance with site safety requirements and conduct Safe Job Analyses when required.
Document site visits, work performed, and findings in service reports and maintenance records.
Contribute to the development of service offerings, maintenance concepts, methodologies, tools, and business processes.
