About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior / Principal Engineer to lead our mechanical engineering function, delivering high-quality technical solutions that meet customer requirements, project objectives, and industry standards.
As a Senior / Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across complex engineering projects, acting as a key point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders. You will play a critical role in driving engineering excellence, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage mechanical engineering teams in the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
Provide technical leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality engineering solutions are delivered on time and to specification.
Coach, mentor, and develop engineers, supporting their technical growth and professional development.
Act as a primary technical liaison for customers and internal stakeholders, building strong relationships and maintaining effective communication throughout project lifecycles.
Review, approve, and sign off engineering calculations, specifications, design packages, and technical reports.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant legislation, industry regulations, codes, and standards.
Support customer engagement activities, technical discussions, issue resolution, and business development initiatives.
Apply advanced engineering expertise to resolve complex mechanical and structural challenges.
Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, procedures, standards, and systems.
Promote the highest standards of safety, quality, technical integrity, and operational performance across all projects.

Wastewater industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates working in any regulated industry sector.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
Essential
Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) within a relevant discipline.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical design solutions within a process plant or regulated industry environment.
Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects to time, cost, and quality requirements.
Strong knowledge of BS, EN, AISC, ASTM, ASME and other relevant engineering codes and standards.
Sound understanding of engineering mechanics and static/dynamic structural behaviour.
Experience producing, reviewing, and approving detailed engineering deliverables, including calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
Experience developing and maintaining engineering procedures, standards, and systems.
Strong customer-facing experience, including technical support, issue resolution, and stakeholder management.
Broad technical knowledge of mechanical equipment, technologies, and engineering principles.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in structural engineering software, including STAAD.Pro.
Experience using SolidWorks Simulation or equivalent FEA software for modelling and analysis.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working to EN and ASME Codes, particularly relating to vessels and piping.
