Summer Internship 2025
Laboratory Research in the Wastewater Technology and Renewable Energy Sector
About the internship:
Cambi, a well-known disruptor in wastewater treatment and organics recycling, is looking for two summer interns to join its Research and Development team. Master's students in chemical, biotechnology, water and wastewater engineering, or other relevant fields are encouraged to apply. The 6-week paid internship will be from mid-June to end July 2025, with the potential for extension. An earlier start date is also possible.
You will be part of an innovative team, contributing to important projects that aid in the development of Cambi systems. The internship will consist of mainly independent research work, with the possibility for your results to be incorporated in presentations at international conferences. Activities may include:
- Laboratory-scale sludge treatment (using high temperature and pressure).
- Chemical analysis.
- Rheological analysis.
- Data analysis and report writing.
- Assistance in full-scale testing at wastewater treatment plants.
The primary workplace will be at the biogas laboratory in Ås (Vollveien 5). Office work will take place at Cambi’s headquarters in Asker (Skysstasjon 11A).
Preferences:
- Students attending graduate programs for Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or Water and Wastewater engineering.
- Three years of completed studies (4th or 5th year student).
- Laboratory work experience.
- Driving license class B (is an advantage).
Application deadline:
- 15th of January 2025
Potential candidates will be invited for interviews in January and February 2025. Please be informed that we will only accept and assess applications through our career site.

About Cambi:
Cambi is a Norwegian technology company specializing in advanced sewage sludge treatment solutions. Established in 1989, it has become the leading global provider of thermal hydrolysis process (THP) systems, technology that breaks down sludge to improve digestion, enabling biogas extraction and destroying harmful microorganisms.
THP offers utilities flexibility to future-proof their sludge management strategy. For those using thermal methods like incineration or drying, it reduces sludge volumes and energy consumption, lowering costs. For facilities that land-apply biosolids, THP produces Class A, pathogen-free, nutrient-rich biosolids suitable for safe agricultural use.
With systems operating in over 80 wastewater treatment plants across 25+ countries, Cambi’s innovative THP technology drives sustainability by minimizing waste, generating renewable energy, and supporting net-zero goals. Learn more at www.cambi.com.
